Walthamstow Wetlands

For an easy escape into nature, head to Walthamstow Wetlands, London's largest fishery and one of Europe's biggest urban nature reserves. Ten reservoirs, wide walking trails and a café make it a haven for wildlife and locals alike, with herons, cormorants and migrating birds regularly spotted across the water.

It's a favourite for nature lovers, joggers and photographers, with paths open enough for an early run and quiet enough for an afternoon of birdwatching. Allow around 30 minutes on foot from The Eades, or an easy 10 minutes by bike. It's also a short and easy journey by car or bus.

Lloyd Park

A short walk in the other direction, Lloyd Park is Walthamstow's family favourite. Landscaped gardens, play areas and a skate park sit alongside a bowling club and the Winns Gallery, home to changing exhibitions and local history.

The park hosts community events and weekly farmers' markets, making it a natural gathering point throughout the year. It's around 15 to 20 minutes on foot from The Eades, or roughly 7 minutes by bike, so it's easy to drop by for an afternoon or make a morning of it. Make sure to stop by the William Morris Gallery too, home to the world’s most significant collection of William Morris’s work.

St James Park and Linear Green Spaces

For something quieter, St James Park and the surrounding linear green spaces offer pockets of smaller parks and wildflower areas dotted through the neighbourhood. They're ideal for a quick dog walk, a book in the sun or simply a break from the day.

Look out for the local allotment and community gardening projects nearby such as Honeybone, Higham Hill Common or Low Hall Farm, a reminder of how much of Walthamstow's green space is genuinely cared for by the people who live here. They’re not too far from The Eades, making it an easy addition to any weekend routine.

Fellowship Square & Town Hall Grounds

Closer to home, Fellowship Square and the Town Hall Grounds bring green space right into the centre of things. Water features and open lawns set the scene for seasonal pop-ups and open-air screenings, while the grounds around the Waltham Forest Council building and War Memorial add a sense of occasion to a simple walk through.

It's a great spot for casual meetups with neighbours and flatmates, or just some solo time outdoors between errands. At around 5 to 10 minutes on foot, it's practically on the doorstep at The Eades.

Green Living at The Eades

Access to green space isn't an afterthought here, it's part of how we've designed life at The Eades to work. With many of Walthamstow's parks within easy walking or cycling distance, and with the podium gardens just a lift ride away, getting outside and some fresh air is never a chore.

For residents who like to keep moving but would rather stay inside, The Eades' own gym and yoga studio is available whenever you need it, with fitness classes complimentary to residents.
